MOTORCYCLE – TRICYCLE – QUAD
Roadworthiness test for two-wheel vehicles is compulsory and must be carried out every 4 years from the date of initial registration of the vehicle (initial test) and then every 2 years from the date of the previous roadworthiness test (periodic test).
The technical inspection of tricycles and quadricycles/quads (L4e, L5, and L7e) will begin according to the Regional/Peripheral authorities invitation program that the vehicles belong to. From that point on the inspection of the vehicle will take place every 2 years.
In case the corresponding Regional/Peripheral Unit to which the tricycles and quadricycles/quads belong to have yet to post an invitation program, the respective vehicles are not obligated to undergo a Technical Inspection.

Voluntary inspection is usually carried out in order to evaluate the condition of a two-wheel vehicle, before buying a second-hand motorcycle or after having it repaired at a garage. Voluntary inspection is independent of and does not substitute the roadworthiness test (KTEO) provided for by the legislation in force. According to the law, voluntary inspection may be carried out only on two-wheel vehicles for which a valid roadworthiness certificate was issued (if 4 years have passed from the date of purchase as new vehicles). If such a certificate is not issued then a roadworthiness test must be carried out and the relevant roadworthiness certificate must be issued. Obviously, two-wheel vehicles with foreign registration plates or two-wheel vehicles for which no roadworthiness test is required (for example motorcycles that are less than 4 years old), may undergo voluntary inspection.
Documents required for voluntary inspection:
– Vehicles with Greek registration plates
Registration certificate
Identity card or passport or driving license of the person who brings the vehicle for testing
Valid roadworthiness certificate (if the vehicle is required to be inspected)
– Vehicles with foreign registration plates
Registration certificate
Identity card or passport or driving license of the person who brings the vehicle for testing
** It has to be noted that no special sticker is attached to the vehicle registration plate.
